TyreSafe advises students to check their tyres before leaving for university
As UK universities prepare to welcome students, TyreSafe reminds the 316,850 applicants to prioritise vehicle safety. With a rise in young drivers, recent data shows that 60% never check their tyres! TyreSafe’s 2023 survey reveals 6 million tyres on UK roads have illegal tread, contributing to over 1/5 of breakdowns.
The RAC reports only 3% of new cars have spare wheels, so drivers must know if they have a spare, run-flat tyres, or repair kits. Checking the expiry date of sealants is also key. TyreSafe’s checklist advises tyre checks, adjusting pressures for loads, and ensuring all vehicle fluids are topped up.
