Did you know we also service Electric Vehicles?

Here at Standlake Vehicle Services we cater for all of your Electric Vehicle (EV) needs, here is some useful information about maintaining and servicing your EV.

Despite the advanced technology, maintaining an electric vehicle is often simpler and up to 43% cheaper than fuel cars due to fewer parts needing attention.

What servicing do electric cars need?

Regular servicing helps extend your Electric Vehicles lifespan. Here are the key parts that require maintenance:

    1. Motor and Battery
Electric motors have few moving parts, needing little upkeep. Batteries can last up to 20 years, with manufacturers typically offering 10+ year guarantees. During a service, technicians run diagnostics, check battery health, and inspect cables.
    2. Coolant and Oil
EV’s use coolant to regulate battery temperature. Routine services will check levels, and lubricated parts like transmission may also be inspected.
    3. Brakes
Regenerative braking reduces wear, but brake fluid and parts still require periodic checks and replacement.
    4. Suspension
The heavy battery might wear suspension parts faster, but these are checked during routine service.

Other parts like tyres, wipers, and filters will need replacement, with tyres wearing down faster due to the battery’s weight.

How often should you service your EV?

EV’s generally need less frequent servicing than petrol or diesel cars. Manufacturers have different schedules; for example, Nissan recommends a service every 18,000 miles or annually, while Volkswagen suggests two years or 18,000 miles. Always follow your car’s specific guidelines.

Where can you service your EV?

EV servicing should be done by specialists, with the right equipment. Luckily you’re in safe hands!
