More than 21 million leisure trips are expected to be made by car this weekend as schools across England break up for the Easter holidays, according to an RAC survey of drivers’ travel plans.
Friday, April 4—the last day of term for most schools—and Saturday, April 5, are predicted to be the busiest travel days, with an estimated 3.4 million journeys planned on each. This is 700,000 more than the 2.7 million trips expected on both Thursday, April 3, and Sunday, April 6, and nearly 1 million more than the 2.4 million forecast for Monday, April 7.
An additional 6.8 million trips are set to be staggered between Friday, April 4, and Sunday, April 6, as many drivers remain undecided about their exact departure times.
With one in four (25%) drivers admitting they’ve experienced a vehicle breakdown while on holiday, you should ensure that your vehicle is in top condition before setting off. Warning signs such as dashboard alerts, coolant leaks, or rising temperature gauges should prompt drivers to book diagnosis and repairs.
