All new cars sold in the European Union from 7 July 2024 must have Speed Limiters fitted, this includes unregistered vehicles!
Despite this being an EU regulation the UK are adopting this as well. Although it seems we are getting a ‘softer’ version with the ability to override the system, albeit with a constant, and no doubt annoying dashboard warning and audible noise!
The technology is being referred to as Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) and will use GPS and traffic sign data to warn a driver when they’re exceeding the speed limit.
